Al Guerrero | Sweet Life for Allan with Lili
Standardbred gelding, Al Guerrero, began his race career in late 2018. Trained and bred by the Anderson family, Al Guerrero is by New Zealand stallion, Alta Christiano NZ. With a career of 70 starts, 15 wins, seven seconds and 11 thirds, Al Guerrero raced for a total of $175,367 in lifetime earnings.
Retiring from racing in 2022, Al Guerrero was rehomed to Lili Mustoe as a stallion. He was then castrated and professionally retrained by Bayley Thomas from Lokenzo Park.
“He had a smart brain, and picked up everything quickly,” said Lili. “He still has his stallion quirks, but besides that, he picks up training really quickly and is the easiest horse yet.”
Lili continues to have regular lessons with Kim Lindsay and has been working to maintain Allan’s three-paces whilst introducing him to jumping along the way. Allan attended his first show at the SPPHAWA Encouragement Show in March, where he received several ribbons while being handled by Lili’s husband. Lili was thrilled to learn a little more about horse showing and enjoys trail-riding Allan off property as he has shown to be quite brave. The pair hope to join Adult Riders eventually, and also compete in their first one-day event.
OTTWA wish Allan and Lili all the best for their future together.
