Sweet Snitty | Project turned Heart Horse

Sweet Snitty is a 2014 Snitzel gelding, bred in New South Wales. Trained by Lloyd Kennewell initially, Sweet Snitty had a very successful career start with several wins and placings within his first ten races. In March 2021, Sweet Snitty was transitioned to training briefly with Cody Morgan, before making the move to Western Australia in September 2021. While in WA, Sweet Snitty raced with Jordan Rolfe and Rickie Brown primarily in country races in Albany, Geraldton, and Kalgoorlie. Sweet Snitty retired from 38 starts with seven wins, seven seconds and two thirds for $183,045 in lifetime earnings.

Following retirement from racing in July 2022, Sweet Snitty (Arlo) was purchased by Dakotah Killen straight from trainer, Rickie Brown. Dakotah was on the lookout for a project horse to train and bring along, but Arlo turned out to be, “too special to pass up.”

Arlo is described as a fast learner who takes everything in his stride. Dakotah commented that he loves attention and will do just about anything for food; his favourite treats including watermelon and liquorice. Dakotah said that Arlo has turned out to be her heart horse and will not be going anywhere like originally planned.

Dakotah and Arlo compete in eventing, show jumping and dressage alongside their pleasure riding. In 2024, Arlo competed in his first official event at the Goldfields Golden Nugget event.

“We didn’t win any ‘golden nuggets’ but we had a great time for our first official outing,” said Dakotah.

Dakotah aims to get Arlo out to many more events throughout the year. We wish them all the best with their future together.
