Deliberation | Sweet and Gentle Deliberation

So You Think gelding, Deliberation, entered into the world in September of 2017. Deliberation began his race career in Queensland with Matthew Dunn, before moving to Western Australia into the training stable of Neville Newton. Kalgoorlie based, Deliberation raced in WA from 2022 to 2024, before retiring into the home of Kellie Gammage. After 46 starts to win $60,847 in lifetime earnings, Deliberation was ready to begin his off the track career.

When asked what interested Kellie in purchasing Deliberation, she fondly recalled that he tried to eat her clipboard at the racetrack while she worked scanning horses. He didn’t seem to care about the races happening around him. Upon purchasing Deliberation, Kellie placed him out on spell and allowed him to let her know when he was ready to begin retraining.

“The process has been very easy with Deliberation. He’s very smart and has an extremely chilled out temperament. He has taken everything he has done so far with a sensible attitude. As long as he gets cuddles and carrots, he’s a happy boy.”

Kellie describes Deliberation as an absolute gentleman. He’s a playful fella, who enjoys playing in water, likes to follow around Kellie’s children like a large lap dog, and wants to be involved in everything. Kellie attributes Deliberations kind and inquisitive nature to the care given to him by his former racing trainer, Neville Newton.

Deliberation has proven to be a wonderful off the track mount, with his biggest accomplishment since beginning his off the track career being piloted around by Kellie’s thirteen year old daughter. Having recently attended the Goldenmile Equestrian Club in the agility classes, ridden classes and in-hand classes, Deliberation and Kellie’s daughter were off and running all by themselves. Deliberation kept his cool and helped secure Kellie’s daughter her first big prize and lots of ribbons. Having last raced in August, it was a credit to Deliberations nature to be so calm and collected in his new environment only a few months later. Kellie is eager to see where Deliberation and her daughter will go next. They plan to teach him how to jump and are excited for him to become their family all-rounder.

This wonderful horse has landed himself into a loving home who hopes to keep him happy and healthy no matter what he does.
