MAJOR TIMES | The wonderful story of how Les met Tamikah
Major Times, a son of Art Major USA, was born in October of 2014. A handsome Victorian bred gelding, Major Times raced from 2017 to 2020 under the guidance of trainer, Emma Stewart, before making the move over to Western Australia. Trained then on by Ross Olivieri, Major Times continued on for another year or so before retiring. With a career of 59 starts for 21 wins, Major Times retired with $314,755 in lifetime stakes.
Seeing ‘Les’ advertised on Facebook, Tamikah McCoy thought he looked to be a sweet horse. Although a nervous rider herself, his cheeky personality and willingness to please drew her in as she met him. Having been under saddle for eight months already, Les was green but moved nicely. He had begun dressage work and showed great promise. Despite not seriously being in the market to buy a Standardbred, Les turned out to be exactly what Tamikah was looking for.
“I have never owned a Standardbred before, and had no interest in owning one until he came along,” commented Tamikah. “Les is one of the quietest horses I have ever owned!”
In December of 2024, Tamikah and Les ventured out to compete at their first show together. Les was calm and collected and proved to be a gentleman for his first competition.
“It proved to me how wonderful this horse is going to be.”
Tamikah hopes to get out with Les more in 2025 to shows and clinics. She’d love to venture into low-level eventing with Les, who has shown to be a quick learner over jumps with the few jumps he has popped over.
OTTWA wish Major Times and Tamikah all the best for their exciting future ahead of them.
