He’s A Sizzler | From Racing to Riding High

He’s A Sizzler is a 2018-born gelding by Sizzling, owned by Beth Giles. After 11 racing starts, He’s A Sizzler raced for trainer Daniel Morton, securing two wins and six placings, amassing a total of $146,240 in earnings. He retired from racing in early 2022 and went directly into Beth’s care.

Although Beth wasn’t actively searching for a horse, the universe seemed to bring her and Timmy together at just the right moment. Beth reflects, “He came along when I needed him the most. I really enjoy working with Thoroughbreds, so I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to give him a life after racing and learn from the experience.”

Beth describes Timmy as having a calm energy. After an initial spell following his racing career, Beth hopped aboard for her first ride. Timmy proved to be a star, and Beth couldn’t wipe the smile off her face during the ride.

Timmy has spent the last few years growing and maturing and is now ready to begin training for competitive pursuits. Beth describes him as a superstar, making the whole process smooth and enjoyable. She also credits Dave Powrie for his exceptional work in the initial breaking-in process before Timmy’s racing days.

Timmy, at 17.3 hands high, is a big fellow with a lovable personality and the sweetest heart. However, he can be vocal and occasionally frustrated when confused. Beth attributes this to Timmy’s intelligence and his ability to learn quickly.

Reflecting on their bond, Beth shares, “My biggest achievement with him is the connection we have. He is brilliant and so adaptable, and I’m incredibly proud of him.”

Together, Beth and Timmy are looking to pursue eventing and show jumping. With his long legs and strong trainability, they are sure to make a formidable team.
