ARTS GANGSTA | Arthurs Transition to an Off the Track Star
ARTS GANGSTA lived an extensive harness racing career before retiring to begin his off the track career. By MODERN ART USA, ‘Arthur’ raced in a total of 112 races between 2008 and 2014, with trainers such as Craig Abercromby, Jason Keys, Michael Callegari, Jarrad Humphries, Kat Warwick and Kiara Davies. With a form of 11 wins and over 20 placings, ARTS GANGSTA won $66,827 in lifetime stakes, and retired from racing to be retained by then owner and trainer, Kiara Davies.
Having trained him throughout the final stages of his racing career, Kiara knew Arthur well. Deciding to keep Arthur as her pleasure riding mount, despite not yet being broken to saddle, Kiara knew that Arthur would have no problem transitioning into an off the track lifestyle and jumped straight onboard.
“Arthur has always been a very cooperative horse, and the trust and bond we have between each other made the process easier,” commented Kiara.
For the last seven to eight years, Arthur has been used as a pleasure mount and paddock puff; recently making the transition into show horse. Arthur and Kiara attended several shows this year, coming away with an overwhelming amount of achievements. They also attended their first dressage day in December, competing in the inaugural SPPHAWA State Dressage Championships to claim very respectable scores of 61%. Kiara has hopes to take Arthur to the Perth Royal Show next year, continuing to attend show horse and dressage events while they can. At eighteen years of age, Arthur is nearing the end of his ridden career but continues to shine and enjoy his work.
Off the Track WA wish Arthur and Kiara all the best for 2025. Arthur is just one example of the beautiful nature and trainability of Standardbreds.
