Awesome Sister | Little Ruby is Pretty Awesome!

This lovely little mare, raced under the name of Awesome Sister, entered the world in August of 2018. By Awesome Rock, and out of Sister Madrid, Awesome Sister raced under trainer, Coreen Maynard. After several trials and three starts, Awesome Sister retired from racing in early 2023. Following retirement, Awesome Sister—Ruby—was rehomed to off the track enthusiast, Kelly Roads.

“I just love their heart, endless energy and versatility,” commented Kelly. “I decided to take on Ruby to see where we went together!”

After a brief let-down with shareholder and good friend of Kelly’s, Karen Booth, Ruby moved into her new home and career. Taking time to establish groundwork with time and patience, Kelly and Ruby slowly worked towards their ridden career together.

“Ruby is fast to learn and responsive. I love that she is a bit sensitive! They are my favourite type of thoroughbred,” said Kelly.

Thanks to strong foundations instilled during her racing career and preparation, Ruby proved to be a pleasure to transition into her off the track life, with an intelligent and sensitive nature. She has proven to be a small pocket rocket who thoroughly enjoys jumping. In 2024, Ruby and Kelly were awarded the Best Performed Off the Track Thoroughbred awards at Wallangarra ARCA Show Jumping Challenge. They hope to finish in the top five at their next ODE event and look to be jumping 80cm and tackling Novice Dressage by the end of the year.
