Baby Charge | Lovely Little Baby Jumping Into the Future
Awesome Rock filly, Baby Charge, raced twice before retiring in September of 2024. After a handful of trials and unsuccessful racing starts with trainers, Stefan Vahala and Mitchell Pateman, Baby Charge retired and began the transition into an off the track career.
Rehomed through breeder and equestrian, Georgie Siciliano, Baby Charge was purchased by Lisa Downey as a project and potential show jumping prospect for her daughter. With education established by Siciliano and her former trainers, Baby Charge was ready to begin her life after racing.
Ridden by Mikaela Downey, Baby Charge is described as having a sweet disposition and a willingness to please. It is clear in their description of this mare, that Baby Charge is well loved and appreciated by the Downey family.
“Her breeder/owner is a testament to her rideability,” commented Lisa. “She loves her humans, cuddles, and just wants to please.”
After establishing her education over poles and cross rails through exposure to new environments, Mikaela and Baby Charge competed in 2024 at Swan River Show Jumping to place at their first outing. They have also entered Oakford Jump Cross, and ventured out to Brigadoon’s cross country course to gain some experience. Both Lisa and Mikaela commented on how special they believe this mare is, and are excited to continue their show jumping and eventing career with her.
Mikaela and Baby are working to develop her jumping technique and believe that she will make a wonderful future eventer and show jumper. With a lovely ground-covering canter and a nice trot, Baby Charge has a bright future ahead of her.
OTTWA wish Baby Charge and Mikaela all the best for their off the track journey together.
