Catwalk Angel | Willow is Walking The Walk!
Catwalk Angel is a flashy grey standardbred mare by Jet Laag USA, bred in 2008 by Danielle Maguire. Catwalk Angel found no success upon the racetrack, starting twice after two time-trials. She was trained by Pinjarra trainer, David Jackson, before retiring in 2011.
Paige Mogensen and her family were seeking to find a horse in which Paige could ride and compete, and so Danielle suggested they take on Catwalk Angel. The mare had been backed and retrained following her racing career and was previously ridden by another rider, Darbee Jane Arrowsmith who took her to clinics and hack shows throughout their years together. Catwalk Angel began her partnership alongside Paige and since then, Willow and Paige have formed a strong partnership, proving the standardbred breed to be versatile and trainable within western disciplines.
Together, Willow and Paige compete in rodeo events across Western Australia. They started from scratch, learning about the rodeo industry as they went along, and are now consistently placing in their chosen disciplines. Willow is a strong competitor in barrel racing and pike bending, and thoroughly enjoys competition season. Following a successful career on the rodeo circuit, Willow is now taking a brief break as she is in foal to a Queensland-based quarter horse; they will hopefully produce a talented cross. While Willow is in foal, Paige has moved onto training up another standardbred in which she hopes to compete with successfully, just like Willow.
In 2023, Willow will be lightly worked until no longer able to be ridden, and Paige plans to continue working on their connection on the ground. We wish them all the best and hope to see a healthy baby delivered later in the year.
