City Leader & Abby Hasleby | Country Combination Heading To Melbourne.
Off the Track WA is pleased to announce sponsorship of City Leader and Abby Hasleby for their Melbourne Three Day International campaign.
City Leader, 2008 gelding by State City retired from racing in 2012 after just four trials under John Bowtell.
Abby and City Leader, who is fondly known as Chewy, became a partnership in 2016 after the gelding had been brought up to 95cm eventing with Gemma Haddelton. Chewy has helped take Abby from 80cm eventing to 2*.
“I have been very lucky to have chewy by my side since I was 15, going through high school and moving out of home all with him by my side every step of the way.” Abby says.
In July 2021 Chewy needed emergency surgery after a floating accident. The pair worked together and after a long and intensive rehabilitation effort, Chewy was once again able to return under saddle.
They concluded 2022 by placing 10th in the Diamond Class at Equestrian in the Parking. After starting 2023 getting back into gear and some focussed training, Chewy and Abby competed in the 2* classes at WAYER International Horse Trials, placing sixth.
City Leader and Abby will be representing WA off the track horses in the Off the Track* CCI 2*-L class at Melbourne International Three Day Event. The event, held at Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre starts 8 June and
