Eventing season kicks off in Capel with Future Eventing
The highly anticipated 2025 eventing season was officially kicked off in the first weekend of March at Capel Horse and Pony Club grounds. Future Eventing was proudly sponsored by Off the Track WA, with three exclusive off the track classes for retired racehorses.
There were eighty-three retired racehorses entered to compete at this exciting event. Hosted on the open green fields in Capel, off the track horses launched into their 2025 season with some wonderful results.
The OTT65cm class saw twenty-two retired racehorses set to compete against their peers.
Results from this class are as follows:
- Demi Go Round and Chloe Godfrey
- Dunbar and Rob Vlasschaert
- Saxsonic Jack and Susannah Thomas
- Degree of Luck and Taylor Palmer
- Designated Surviva and Monique Swanson
- Elementary Holmes and Vaz McLaughlan

The OTT80cm class saw eight retired racehorses entered to compete against their peers.
Sadly, two horses were eliminated from competition come the cross-country phase, leaving the final competitors guaranteed a placing.

- Hypermotard and Sophie Duncan
- Kintail and Danielle Conroy
- Socialslayer and Joanne Stokes
- The Mentalist and Elexia Challinger
- Marble Gold and Desiree Sanderson

The OTT95cm class had eight retired racehorses entered, with one elimination.
Results from this class are as follows:
- Mauldens Mill and Amber Patupis-Retsas
- Artie’s Jewels and Courtney Perkins

- Eastern Blue Prints and Joanne Madaffari
- GPH and Chris Edwards
- Solomon Cain and Vaz McLaughlan

The CCN Star classes were also well supported with off the track competitors, with the following horses receiving Best Performed OTT Horse awards for their classes.
- Double Take and Serena Smith – BPOTT in the CCN1* Junior
- Restore Order and Riley Lyall – BPOTT in the CCN1*
- Ocean’s Fifteen and Charlee Morton-Sharp – BPOTT in the CCN2*
- Azugo and Ellie Gough – BPOTT in the CCN3*
