L’varss | Lovely Little Daisy
Lovely little chestnut mare, L’varss, never made it to the racetrack. By Irish stallion, Hala Bek, this 2014 filly was bred in Western Australia from Australian mare, Speaking Terms.
Previously owned by Emma Tersteege, L’varss was used as a broodmare, with her first and only foal by a Knabstrupper stallion. Once this foal was weaned, ‘Daisy’ was backed and begun as a low-level eventer and dressage mount.
In 2021, Daisy was advertised for sale. Looking to move up from ponies and seeking a larger horse with talent that fit within their budget, Imogen Freeman found Daisy to be the perfect match.
“Daisy already had good basics in her dressage training that I could build on,” commented Imogen. “Whenever I’m training her something new, she tries very hard and doesn’t stop trying until she gets it right.”
When describing Daisy, Imogen suggested that while she was very willing and open to learning, Daisy demanded the best from her rider. Together, they have established themselves as a strong pair since starting their partnership, which has benefitted them both in the dressage arena. Imogen competes regularly in dressage with Daisy, with the pair of them recently stepping up to elementary level and working to establish their flying changes at home.
Imogen and Daisy competed at the Pony Club WA State Dressage Championships recently, showcasing their first elementary level freestyle with the theme of ‘Frozen’.
When asked what her short-term goals were with Daisy, Imogen commented that she wanted to, ‘keep improving in their training and get their flying changes more consistent and reliable’. In the long run, she hopes to move Daisy up to medium level dressage, commenting that Daisy is ‘more than capable’.
OTTWA wish Daisy and Imogen all the best for their future together!
