Manajito | Man of The Hour!

Manajito, affectionately known as Mac, born in 2011 was bred and trained by Phil Naylor. The handsome gelding is by Passenger and out of Viscount mare, Jemaka who Phil also trained. Mac’s retired from racing in 2015 after three starts.

Mac caught the eye of Phil’s daughter, and show horse rider, Sara Naylor.

“The moment he came out he had show horse written all over him!” Sara says.

Mac has been one of Sara’s favourites to retrain, taking to his new career easily.

“He definitely has his cheeky quirks, but we have a great partnership.” Sara says.

In 2017 Sara began campaigning Mac, who competes as SN Arcadia.

It didn’t take long before Sara and Mac were winning classes at WA’s top show horse events. In his first year Mac took home the Show Horse Council of WA (SHCWA) Western Stars Runner Up Open Small Hack, the Newcomers Runner Up Newcomer, and Runner Up Small Hack at the Gosnells Masters.

By the end of 2019 they had won 2018 EWA Horse of The Year Off the Track Thoroughbred Runner Up, 2018 Perth Royal Show Runner Up Hack and the SLM Flirting Award, Supreme Off the Track Exhibit at the EWA Show Horse Winter Gala, and the 2019 EWA Horse of the Year Off the Track Thoroughbred. The latter accomplishment qualified the pair for the 2019 EA Australasian Show Horse Championships. They travelled across to Victoria and won the Off the Track Fashions on The Field Class.

Even with the effects of COVID-19 on the competition season their success continued into 2020. The pair were awarded Supreme Off the Track Exhibit at the EWA Show Horse Winter Gala, and Off the Track Thoroughbred winner at the EWA Horse of the Year event. In 2021 they were Thoroughbred Classic Runners Up at the SPPHAWA Dual Code Spectacular.

So far in 2022 Mac and Sara have won the Thoroughbred Classic at the SPPHAWA Dual Code Spectacular, Champion Off the Track Horse at the EWA Horse of Year event, and most recently Champion Off the Track Thoroughbred and Small Hack the SHCWA Horse of the Year.
“Our most recent win at SHCWA HOTY was an end to an incredible season. It’s been 10 years since I have won HOTY with my beautiful thoroughbred Tres Bein. Mac worked the house down in both classes and it’s amazing to get the win in both classes and be rewarded for all our hard work!” Sara says.
Sara is looking forward to enjoying her time with Mac.
“I’m hoping to keep competing and performing to our best for a few more years to come!” Sara says.
