Money Magnet NZ | Dressed to Impress!
New Zealand-born Money Magnet NZ is a 1999 gelding by Fake Left USA. This handsome gelding began his racing career in 2003 with trainers Greg and Skye Bond after two successful trials in the years prior. Throughout his career, Money Magnet NZ achieved 26 wins and 23 placings out of his 113 starts. He was a formidable force on the racetrack, accumulating connections $306,123 until retiring in 2009. Rob Gartrell, one of his racing owners, described his favourite moment as an owner as being when Money Magnet won the Fremantle Cup in 2006. Since retiring from racing, Money Magnet has been in the care of Tina Larcombe.
Skye Bond fondly commented on Money Magnet, saying that; “It is special to see our horses get to a place or home in retirement where they are treated with love and care. We always bring them home if they can’t find such a home as they hold a special place for us. Money Magnet was the beginning of Greg and I’s relationship and was the first horse we had together.”
Upon meeting Money Magnet, now affectionately known as Moey, Tina described this big gelding as having a huge personality to match his height. The pair have dabbled in various riding experiences including endurance riding, adult riders, jumping and relaxing at the beach.
Tina and Moey enjoy dressing up for freestyle dressage tests. Even with wardrobe malfunctions, Moey is stoic and strong and does not mind bits and pieces flapping around near his head and rear.
Moey is Tina’s perfect partner in crime. When trail riding, Moey is the one who will step up to provide support for anxious riders and horses.
“We have had some very entertaining times, and I could never explain how patient this awesome boy is.” Tina says.
Tina and Moey plan to continue enjoying their lives as a team. Tina commented on how grateful she is to have Money Magnet enter her life after his successful racing career.
We wish Tina and Moey all the best throughout the following year and hope to see more of their impressive outfits!
