Network Retrainer Information & Map

OTTWA Network Retrainers are a group of retrainers  who have been successful through the application process. Applicants are reviewed on their experience with thoroughbreds and standardbreds, training ethos, and approach.  

Successful Applicants receive: 

  • $500 towards each off the track horse in their care for 30 days after the approval of their passport application. 
  • Following the initial 30-days, $100/month payment for each retired racehorse for up to five months (or until rehomed). 
  • Listing as an OTTWA Network Retrainer on the Off the Track WA website. 

Funding is capped at $1,000 per horse. 

The Purpose:

  • To promote the highest standards of care towards the retraining of retired racehorses.  
  • To increase opportunities for the retraining and rehoming of retired racehorses. 
  • To provide financial support to retrainers who re-educate and rehome retired racehorses and are successful through the application process. 

The Goal:

To support the re-education of retired racehorses as they transition from racing into pleasure, performance and companion animals.
