Off the Track Horses Dazzle at Gosnells

Gosnells Riding and Pony Club hosted their annual Summer Show Offs on February 9^th, showcasing horses from all breeds. Off the Track WA were proud to sponsor the Standardbred and Thoroughbred classes, with twelve retired racehorses entered to compete.

As always, the Thoroughbreds and Standardbreds were presented impeccably by their handlers, with some super and quality bred horses making their showing debut.

Thoroughbreds were well represented with nine beautiful examples of the breed flaunting their strides.

Of the competitors, handsome and tall gelding, Fighting Harada was awarded the Reserve Thoroughbred gelding award with owner/rider, Jaimee Van De Pavert.

Champion Thoroughbred gelding was awarded to Blackwater Bay, a Blackfriars gelding who won approximately $250,000 with Adam Durrant.

Owner and rider, Gabriella Dercole posted to say: “My absolute heart horse, Blackwater Bay. Second ever show and handled it like an absolute professional. I’ve loved you since I first saw you as a two year old and am forever grateful that I got to have you off the track “

Supreme was secured to the Champion Thoroughbred mare, lovely and tall Thoroughbred mare, Our Lady Bessie, handled and owned by Kristie Morrone.

“The plan was to use the event as a bit of a training day. You can never really estimate how a young Thoroughbred will handle the experience. There were a few spicy moments, excited moments and nervous moments, but mostly, she listened well and tried hard. Her results for the day were unexpected and an added bonus.”

Three beautiful Standardbreds competed, with each of them securing an award. Champion Gelding and Supreme Standardbred was awarded to ITSNOTOVA, a stunning black gelding who has won several awards throughout his off the track career, including Supreme Standardbred at the 2024 Perth Royal Show. Tex on Legs, in the early stages of his off the track career, was awarded Reserve Supreme Champion Standardbred, along with Playing the Fool, seasoned Standardbred representative at off the track clinics and events, who won Reserve Champion gelding.

This was the first breed events for 2025. We look forward to following along with the results of the remaining events throughout the year.
