Off the Track WA and retired racehorses return to Ascot
Saturday, March 22 saw Off the Track WA and retired racehorses return to Ascot Racecourse to showcase retired Thoroughbreds in their off the track careers.
Joined by Claremont Therapeutic Riding Centers (CTRC), Bill (Alago Yeneos) and Dexter (One More Run), retired racehorses received plenty of pats and carrots from Ascot patrons. Bill and Dexter were beautifully presented and handled by the team at CTRC and enjoyed their day at the races. Dexter raced once in his career in Ascot, and Bill never raced at all; this day at the races was a new experience for both horses and they handled it wonderfully.
Our parading horses arrived ready to dazzle the ring. Super Maxi and Ocean’s Fifteen hadn’t returned to Ascot since retiring several years prior and handled the return beautifully. Partnered with seasoned pro, Mervyn, the Off the Track WA parade was a success with all three horses showing off their bright OTTWA rugs and the commentators discussing each of their careers on and off the track.
It was a wonderful opportunity to show the general public just how wonderful retired racehorses can be and highlight some of our initiatives aimed at supporting Thoroughbreds and Standardbreds. As of March 2025, we have 4,850+ retired racehorses registered with an OTTWA Passport – almost reaching 5,000!
Thank you to @Western Racepix for these super photos showcasing our parading horses.
