OTTWA Feature | Retired Racehorses in Eventing
Off the Track WA is proud to see many retired racehorses competing within the discipline of eventing. In the year of 2023, approximately 455 retired racehorses competed in eventing events sponsored by OTTWA, with 88 horses claiming Best Performed or Champion Off the Track Horse awards and prizes. Many of these horses won or placed at events by using their strength and stamina to excel within the cross-country phase of the competition.
What is Eventing?
Eventing is an equestrian event that comprises dressage, cross-country and show jumping. Eventers can compete in two formats – the one-day event (ODE) or the three-day event (3DE), which staggers each discipline across three days.
What makes Retired Racehorses suitable for Eventing?
“Retired racehorses are naturally athletic, fit and quick thinking, which makes them formidable in the eventing scene.”
“Retired racehorses are bold and versatile, making them more than suitable for eventing!”
“Retired racehorses are brave, super willing and have the endurance to exceed in eventing.”
