Interstate Competitor Sponsorship | McCrum and Thunder God

Off the Track WA are proud to be sponsoring young rider, Ella McCrum, and her off the track gelding, Thunder God, as they compete at the Australian Interschools Championships. Ella and ‘Thunder God’ (competed as KP Playback) will be competing in the Combined Training 95cm, and the 1m and 1.10m show jumping classes at this event.

Thunder God is an eight-year-old gelding by Playing God, who retired from racing in 2019. Trained by Stephen Miller, Thunder God raced for a total of three starts before retiring. This Playing God gelding has proven himself to be much better suited to jumping than racing.

Together, Ella and Thunder God are competitive show jumpers, winning the under 16’s metre to 1.04m class at the 2023 WASJA Patrons Cup, as well contributing to the winning team at the 2024 Perth Show Jumping League. Ella and Thunder God were also the second highest placed off the track combination at the WA interschools Championships in 2024.

Ella and Thunder God regularly train and strive to better themselves, with regular lessons from Debbie Greenwood and frequent attendances at development clinics such as the Young Event Squad training days and Equestrian WA development clinics for the Interschool National Team. We wish Ella and Thunder God all the best for their travel and thank them for representing the versatility and talent of retired racehorses to a broad audience.
