OUR BOBBYDAZZLER | Endurance has Bobby written all over it

Standardbred gelding, Our BobbyDazzler, entered into the world in December of 2012. Bred and owned by Shelley Burton, Our BobbyDazzler started his racing career in late 2015 with several trials before his first official start in January of 2016. ‘Bobby’ had an extensive career on the track, with 94 starts to claim nine wins and 18 placings to earn just under 60 thousand dollars in lifetime stakes.

Retired in 2020, Our BobbyDazzler was submitted and accepted into the OTTWA Retraining & Rehoming Program under the guidance of former OTTWA Retrainer, Bayley Thomas. It was clear from the start that ‘Bobby’ was destined to have a great off the track career; with good looks, trainability and a wonderful temperament, Bobby was a star.

Rehomed in 2021 to Naomi Simpkin via the program, Bobby adapted to his off the track lifestyle and ridden career with ease. After two years with Naomi, Bobby was then rehomed to Shana Dodge, an avid Standardbred enthusiast and supporter.

While with Shana, Bobby attended a handful of clinics, breed shows and trail rides to gain experience. Throughout all of these adventures, Bobby’s wonderful temperament shone through to never put a foot wrong even when faced with nerves and tension.

In July of 2024, Bobby was purchased by Bonnie Wilson, who sought a young Standardbred to bring along further within their education. With limited miles under his belt, and a gentle nature, Bobby proved to be the perfect candidate.

“When I met Bobby, I really liked him instantly,” commented Bonnie. “Aside from being lovely to look at, he also has a really loveable temperament. He’s got so much personality, it’s hard not to love him.”

With Bonnie, Bobby has ventured into the world of endurance riding. They competed at the Highbury endurance ride across 20kms to return home with all A’s and 1’s on their report. Bobby’s quick learning has helped him enter into new disciplines easily. With speed and willingness, Bonnie has high hopes that Bobby will continue to become a lovely endurance mount.

In 2025, Bonnie and Bobby have more endurance rides in their sights. Regardless of what they set their sights on, we are sure Bobby will take to it like a duck to water.
