Out of Line & Riley Lyall | High Flying Off the Track Pair Head to New Zealand.
Off the Track WA is excited to announce sponsorship of Out of Line (GI War Machine) and Riley Lyall for their trip to the Oceania Championships in New Zealand.
Out of Line, affectionately known as Arnie, is a 2013 gelding by the late Blackfriars who retired from racing in 2018 after nine starts, earning $11,600.
Arnie and Riley joined forces in 2018 and it wasn’t long before they were making their mark in the WA eventing circuit. By 2020 Arnie was competing in 1* classes, progressing up a grade in 2021 and 2022 to now perform consistently at 3* level.
In 2022 Arnie and Riley were selected for the Australian Oceania Young Rider Team, with the Championships hosted by the Melbourne International Three Day Event. The pair finished 10th in the individual placings.
The formidable combination has again been selected for the Australian Oceania Young Rider Team, this time travelling to Land Rover Horse of the Year, New Zealand.
“Riding for Australia is such a privilege and being in the team environment not only gives us access to excellent coaches, but the offering and receiving of moral support from other team members is a huge help during the competition.” Riley says of being selected.
They recently began their preparation in the form of a clinic with Team coach Andrew Barnett, hosted by EWA High Performance. They will soon travel to Maitland, NSW to stay at Andrew’s property and hopefully have a few trial runs before making the flight to New Zealand in early March. They then plan to head back to Maitland in April to compete in the Adelaide International Three Day Event.
“We have a very busy few months ahead but have our fingers crossed, Arnie travels well and is happy and healthy at the end of this long journey.” Riley says.
We look forward to following their journey and updating the off the track community of WA!
