Out of Line & Riley Lyall | Off the Track and Young Rider are a Winning Combination
Off the Track WA is excited to announce our sponsorship of off the track combination Out of Line and Riley Lyall for their Victorian campaign.
Out of Line, by the popular stallion Blackfriars, had a relatively short racing career of nine starts over two years earning $11,600. The 2013 gelding had his first five starts and only win with trainer duo Goeff Durrant and Jason Miller before making the change to Adam Durrant for his final four starts in late 2017 and early 2018.
Upon retirement, Out of Line, affectionately known as Arnie, was suggested to Riley Lyall and his mother, Cindy, by friend and trainer Kellie Grantham. Kellie, who was working at Durrant Racing, knew the Lyall’s were looking for a horse with height to suit a growing 15-year-old Riley.
Since starting his eventing career Arnie, who competes as GI War Machine, has travelled up the eventing grades with confidence, now placing in 3* classes.
“He has shown to be very brave and consistent throughout his competition career so far.” Riley says.
Arnie and Riley have a list of impressive achievements, winning the 2* class at the 2021 Gidgegannup CCN, placing third in both the 3* class at the 2021 Swan River CCI and the 2.5* class at 2022 Capel CCN and second more recently at the Murray CCN in the 3* class.
As a result of their hard work and talent, GI War Machine and Riley have been selected to represent Australia in the Young Rider Oceania Championships Eventing team. As a part of this team, they will participate in the training camp in Victoria and compete at the Melbourne International 3 Day Event in the 3* Class.
“I am really looking forward to using this opportunity to gain as much experience and knowledge as I can from these great coaches and senior riders.” Riley says.
Arnie, Riley, his family and groom Matilda Hathway will be making the journey east on 28 May.
We look forward to following their journey.
