Paleface Phantom | Handsome Phantom!
Born in 2015 by Sportswriter USA, Paleface Phantom never took to his life on the track. After one trial in early 2020 with Bradley Chinnery, Paleface Phantom was retired with no official starts.
Samantha Chudleigh found Paleface Phantom through Hannah Griffiths, who had taken the gelding on to rehome following his retirement. Hannah regularly breaks in standardbreds and begins their education but did not have the time to do so with Paleface Phantom. Sam picked Phantom up and began the backing process herself; throughout which he was a perfect gentleman, despite his nerves.
A few months following being backed, Phantom and Sam set out on a few hunts where the handsome gelding took everything in his stride. The following year, Phantom competed in the Blackwood Marathon with a friend of Sam’s onboard, winning their category. Phantom was then given a year on spell to grow and mature, coming back at least a hand taller.
Nearing the year mark, Sam was contacted by a friend who needed a horse for an Iron Woman event. Phantom was pulled in from spelling life and given four weeks of preparation at Amelia Park before the event.
Phantom proved his fantastic nature by handling the event like a seasoned professional. His rider Sarah commented that Phantom made the riding section the easiest phase, carrying his exhausted rider around with ease. Since then, Phantom has been enjoying quiet trail rides and recently attended a WA Horse Trekkers Club meeting, presenting as the perfect gentleman to ride.
We wish Paleface Phantom and Sam all the best in the 2023 season.
