Reveuse | Handsome Romeo Shines in the Show Ring
2014 Time Thief gelding, Reveuse, began his race career in 2017 with trainer, Stefan Vahala. After 37 starts for several placings, including one win and seven seconds, Reveuse retired from racing in 2021. Following retirement, Reveuse was put out on spell to enjoy life as a horse before coming back in for retraining.
Louise Fraser, an employee at the racetrack for over a decade, spotted Reveuse and highlighted him as a potential show horse whilst working in the swab boxes. Having great success in the show ring, alongside sister, Linda Brenzi, Louise has proven to have a keen eye for finding talented thoroughbreds with potential to burn in their off the track careers. Impressed with his calm nature, Louise reached out to Vahala, who confirmed that Reveuse was a lovely horse to handle and ride and would be happy for her to take him following his retirement.
Together, Louise and Linda have worked to turn Reveuse into a true show horse. Thanks to the solid foundations instilled by Stefan Vahala during his race training, Reveuse – or Romeo, proved to be a gentleman to retrain. Ambitious and confident that he would deliver, Louise entered Romeo into the Perth Royal Show in 2023 for his first major competition. Handled by Anthony Tropiano, Reveuse entered the show ring with a bang, winning Champion Thoroughbred Gelding, and then going on to win Supreme Thoroughbred. Following this, Reveuse competed against the Supreme Standardbred, Folsom Prison, to be awarded the title of Admirals Christmas Supreme Off the Track Exhibit.
Reveuse thrived under the pampering and preening that encompasses show horse preparation. Following his success at the Perth Royal, Reveuse was entered into the Show Horse Council Large Hack of the Year class with Louise’s sister, Linda Brenzi, onboard. This was Romeos first ridden competition, and so Linda and Louise went into the event with the knowledge that just to make it into the ring would be a win. Romeo once again proved his fantastic temperament to perform a lovely workout to receive a second vote from one of the three judges. To compete at his first event in the indoor arena at State Equestrian Centre was a proud accomplishment for Louise and Linda who were thrilled with the gelding’s performance.
Louise has high hopes that Reveuse will continue to be a competitive show horse, along with the potential to dabble in dressage.
OTTWA wish Reveuse, Louise and everyone involved in this gelding’s journey, all the best for the future!
