SUAREZ | Rocky is Ready to Rock and Roll in the Show Ring

Suarez entered into the world in November of 2014. This Standardbred gelding by Shadow Play USA led an extensive racing career of 59 starts. With career highlights of seven wins, and 13 placings, Suarez last graced the harness track in August of 2023. Trained and rehomed by Sonia Zucchiatti, Suarez retired into his off the track career with Gabriella Fondacaro.

Attracted by the versatility of retired Standardbreds, Gabriella was intrigued by Suarez and his kind nature, along with his handsome looks.

Still in the training process, his trainability has proven to be an asset towards his development. Described as an affectionate but quirky horse, Suarez has been known to test the boundaries. Despite this, “Rocky” is has a loveable nature and is a wonderful companion to Gabriella’s children.

“He is a one in a million horse, and you don’t get very many like him.”

Though still developing in his off the track career, Suarez has achieved success at local SPPHAWA shows, winning Supreme Runner-Up at the SPPHAWA Encouragement and Harness Show in 2024. Gabriella hopes to compete Rocky in hand at the 2025 Perth Royal Show.

“It’s not all about winning. It’s about enjoying it all and having fun showing everyone that Standies are very versatile horses who can do anything with the right person,” commented Gabriella.

OTTWA wish Suarez and Gabriella all the best for their time together and hope they continue to have fun. ‘Rocky’ is just another wonderful example of the versatility of retired Standardbreds.
