Unnamed (Cherry) | Loving This Mare is a Piece of Cake for Anthea.
Unnamed in the Australian Stud Book but affectionately known as Cherry is a mare by Fortress Strong and out of Old Spice mare, Spice Miss.
A self-proclaimed Bush Rider Anthea Monger purchased Cherry after her previous horse, Cue the Sun was retired due to injury. At the time Cherry was enjoying paddock life on the Capel property of her breeder Liza Dawson. Anthea was advised by a friend to view Cherry who was looking for a new home. Anthea, who was attracted by Cherry’s beautiful temperament, brought the kind mare home and has not looked back.
Previously Anthea was not confident enough to pursue dressage or show jumping, but she has grown with Cherry. They began having lessons with Anna Johnson and soon dipped their toes in the competition ring.
As well as weekends away camping with the Warren Horsemen’s Association, favourite past times include bush riding and summer beach trips.
Earlier this year they competed in the Busselton Show horse day and came away with Reserve Champion Hack in the unofficial classes. Cherry and Anthea also earned Best Performed Off the Track Horse at event one of the Margaret River Dressage Series with a personal best score of 68.9% for their Preliminary test.
“She is a super star to me and simply the best horse on the planet.” Says Anthea.
“She is a level-headed mare who I trust implicitly. She fills me with confidence.” Anthea continues.
We look forward to seeing Cherry and Anthea grow together!
